Win a copy of Labyrinth of Fire by reviewing Island of Fog

The purpose of this post is to see if I can persuade a few of you to post reviews for Island of Fog. If you liked it, or even if you didn't, I'd really appreciate your comments. I'm going to pick a "winning review of substance" at the end of October and that person will receive a free copy of my new book, Labyrinth of Fire, as soon as it's available. For those of you who have already supplied a review, don't worry -- you're automatically included in this!

The most helpful place to review the book is at Amazon.com. (I'm not sure if you have to be a resident in the United States to post a review -- try and see!) Posting a review on Amazon helps my "sales rank" and generally gives my book more exposure to the Amazon community. Also, once a review is posted there, I can always copy-paste it to this website -- so I get to have the same review in two places. :-)

So, if you can, go to my book page at Amazon.com and scroll down to the Customer Reviews section, where you'll find a "Create your own review" button.

As with all book reviews, try not to reveal major plot twists and endings. :-)

In a nutshell, reviews sell books, especially reviews on Amazon because they're seen as more objective than those on a personal author website. I've had a lot of positive feedback for the book so far, either in person or via email, Facebook, Twitter, etc, but very few actual reviews compared to the number sold.

So if you have a moment, please tell me what you thought. It doesn't have to be all positive as long as it's honest and constructive (ie, if something is wrong, tell me what and why, not just "it sucks!"). An author hopes to improve with every book, and he can only do that if he knows how he did with the previous effort.

Meanwhile, editing on Labyrinth of Fire is going very well. My first sweep is nearly complete, and once that's done I'll get a few proof books printed and sent off to my short list of proofreaders. Assuming they have nothing major to suggest (like a complete rewrite of, say, the plot) I'll then be able to run through and make amendments as well as correct all my gaffs! I'm definitely on target for a November release. In the next week or so I'll be posting a "pre-order" link for those who want it hot off the press!
